Senior Systems Integration Engineer (January 2007 – January 2009)

  • Supported customer migrations from legacy TDM & SS7 networks onto a SIP backbone.

  • Created custom PSX (SIP routing engine) routing to emulate existing network trunking behaviors as well as performed live SS7 switchovers onto Sonus gear.

  • Provided on-site and remote SME expertise to customers during migrations.

  • Technical lead on custom application projects for various customers.

  • Performed technical reviews following projects from final proposal to acceptance testing of applications on customer site.

  • Acted as a contact between design outsource company and Product and Engineering management.

  • Familiar with the provisioning and use of the Sonus ASX, PSX, SGX, GSX, IMX, and Insight EMS.

  • Led training for customers on the use of the SOAP API for the creation of their own custom provisioning tools for Sonus equipment.

  • Assisted other projects, as needed, so that revenue recognition goals could be met.

Design and Custom Applications Engineer (August 2004 – January 2007)

  • Developed new functionality for the Sonus Insight EMS, a provisioning and SNMP server, which were delivered via a patching mechanism.

  • Debugged and provided software fixes for bugs discovered during in-house testing and in customer deployments.

  • Development and software fixes were primarily in Java but also used Perl, Tcl, Oracle, Netcool and Jboss in a Clearcase environment.

  • Led training for customers on the use of the SOAP API for the creation of their own custom provisioning tools for Sonus equipment.

Nortel Networks, Richardson, TX

September 2000 – August 2004

Shasta GGSN Development Engineer (February 2003 – August 2004)

  • Designed, tested, and debugged new software features for the Shasta GGSN (GSM/UMTS) product, requiring familiarity with TCP, UDP, IP, GTP, GTP’, NAT, L2TP, IPSEC, GRE, WAP, and other network protocols.

  • Developed using a Clearcase environment for real-time "C" software on a Vxworks platform. as well as occasional Java development for the related SNMP and provisioning server.

  • Assisted customer design support team to alleviate backlog and increase customer issue turnaround time for software bugs discovered in the field.

Spectrum Peripheral Module Support Engineer (September 2000 – February 2003)

  • Provided debugging and efficient custom software solutions to software issues found at customer sites and during in-house testing.

  • Addressed call processing software issues involving country specific ISUP (SS7) and ITU Q.931 variants.

  • Provided feedback in design reviews to allow delivery of “fast features” to customers via the proprietary live software patching mechanism.

  • Primary development language used was C++ (Rogue Wave libraries) on a real-time (VxWorks), optical (OC-3/STM-1) peripheral for the Wireless market (CDMA/GSM/UMTS).

  • Tools used include the Rational Clearcase code library system, Clarify ClearQuality /ClearSupport to track software issues, as well as other proprietary Unix tools.

Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems, Moorestown, NJ

June 1999 – September 2000

Advanced Signal Processing Center Engineer

  • Designed and debugged firmware (MIL-STD 1750 Assembly) used in the Aegis Combat System (DDG-91) radar signal processor (200+ processor array).

  • Recommended updates to system test specifications; troubleshot the Fortran and C test programs used in evaluating system performance for a proprietary hardware/software testbed for the radar system.

  • Created and administered several internal online databases for use in pre-production tracking of engineering tasks, using Filemaker/WebCompanion and Apache/PHP/MySQL.

  • Position required a DOD Secret Clearance.
